Alba Baptista (Ava Silva, The Warrior Nun) is Penny in BORDERLINE, a dark comedy set in the mid-1990s which follows Paul Duerson (Ray Nicholson), an obsessively infatuated fan of pop star and actor Sofia (Samara Weaving). Institutionalized after breaking into Sophia’s home and stabbing her bodyguard, Paul escapes, and together with fellow escapee Penny (Baptiste) makes another attempt to realise his fantasies by turning Sophia’s house into a surreal wedding venue. Written and directed by Jimmy Warden, BORDERLINE can be streamed on Peacock TV.

Baptista is also the title character in Artur Serra Araújo‘s drama DULCINEIA. Based on the novel “O Ano Sabático” by João Tordo, the film tells the story of Hugo, a bass player in Lisbon, who decides to take a year off and visit his family in Porto, 300 kilometers to the north. Hugo attends the concert of a pianist named Luís who plays an unpublished work that Hugo has been mentally composing for years, but has never written down. The two men are physically similar, and have, much to their puzzlement, independently written identical music. In Portugal, DULCINEIA can be purchased from Rakuten TV.
Lorena Andrea (Sister Lilith – heir presumptive to The Halo) is Nigella in MAINTENANCE REQUIRED, a film about Charlie (Madelaine Petsch), owner of an all-female mechanic shop. Charlie meets Beau (Jacob Scipio), whose car repair company opens a location across the street from her auto shop. The duo start off as enemies, but Charlie is unaware that Beau is also the anonymous confidant she has been speaking with in an online car forum. Director Lacey Uhlemeyer told ABC News that the film was partially inspired by Girls Auto Clinic, a real-life auto repair shop in Philadelphia which also has a salon like the shop in the film. MAINTENANCE REQUIRED can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

Thekla Reuten as Julia Zani in “Citadel: Diana“
Thekla Reuten (Jillian Salvius – CEO of Arc-Tech) is Anouk in Mike Van Diem‘s dark dramedy OUR GIRLS (Voor de meisjes), based on the 2019 novel “We doen wat we kunnen” by Lykele Muus. Anouk and Danny (Fedja Van Huêt) spend a week each summer with Gwen (Noortje Herlaar) and Erik (Valentijn Dhaenens) at their shared house in the Austrian Alps. When their teenage daughters are involved in a serious road accident, one girl is left comatose and the other sustains serious internal injuries. Long-buried secrets surface when the families learn it could be necessary to sacrifice one child to save the other. OUR GIRLS premiered at the 2025 Netherlands Film Festival where it won four awards, including Best Picture.

Sylvia De Fanti as Wolfie Mandelbaum in “The Star of Mandalay” (episode 18.12 of Murdoch Mysteries)
Sylvia De Fanti (Mother Superior – birth name Suzanne) is Sylvia in FUORI, a biographical film focused on the brief jail time served by Italian author Goliarda Sapienza and the friends she made while incarcerated, as described in several of her books. Sapienza, played by Valeria Golino, gained recognition as a novelist and poet after her death in 1996. Sonia Zhou Fenxia appears in the film as Suzie Wong. Directed by Mario Martone, FUORE is available from Apple TV Italy.

Tristan Ulloa as Salva in Carlos Sedes‘ true crime mystery “A Widow’s Game” (La viuda negra)
Tristán Ulloa (Father Vincent – strategic leader of the OCS) is Enrique Adaro in EL CENTRO, a TV series created by David Moreno. The espionage thriller is set in the secretive world of the CNI (The National Intelligence Center of Spain). A murder at the beginning of things leads to the discovery of a covert foreign intelligence operation led by an enigmatic Russian named Volkov. Olivia Delcán (Warrior Nun’s Sister Camila) appears in episodes 3 and 4 of the series as Patricia. EL CENTRO is available from Movistar Plus+.

Kristina Tonteri-Young as Corporal Bale in “Outside the Wire“
Kristina Tonteri-Young (Sister Beatrice – chief OCS strategist) is Blake in Alex Noyer‘s horror feature LOVE IS THE MONSTER. Ana (Madeline Zima) and Justin (Leonarado Nam) travel to a retreat in Northern Finland, along with several other troubled couples, to learn from the shaman Tiina (Milla Puolakanaho). Under the midnight sun they fall prey to the whims of Lempo, the Finnish goddess of love and fertility. Filmed in Canada, LOVE IS THE MONSTER premiered at the 2025 Screamfest Horror Film Festival.
Tonteri-Young has an as yet unspecified role in THE LAST DISTURBANCE OF MADELINE HYNDE, a thriller written and directed by Kenneth Branagh. Little has been revealed about the story, but Tom Bateman, who co-stars with Jodie Comer and Patricia Arquette, told Ryan O’Rourke of Collider: “We made a joke that I think I read the script 10 times before I understood 10% of it. I kept saying to him, ‘How did you come up with this movie?’ Come watch it. It’ll be out next year. It’s a real web. Nothing is as it seems.” A 2026 release date is anticipated.
The Order of the Cruciform Sword (OCS) is a secret Catholic military organization built to support The Warrior Nun’s demon-fighting missions. Its members fight using weapons made of divinium, an organic and highly conductive metal of uncertain origin. They are led by the Warrior Nun, the one who bears The Halo, an artifact from The Other Realm that gives its bearer supernatural powers. As the story begins, the Halo is installed in its current bearer Ava by unusual means, possibly involving Divine Intervention. Created by Simon Barry, WARRIOR NUN chronicles Ava’s demon-fighting adventures. Eighteen episodes were produced, and each episode is named after a relevant Bible verse. The first is Psalm 46:5 “God is within her; she will not fall.” WARRIOR NUN can be streamed on Netflix.
