Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna Earp in 49 episodes) is Emma’s friend Wendy in Sean Garrity‘s romantic comedy, THE END OF SEX. After sending their children to winter camp, Emma (Emily Hampshire) and Josh (Jonas Chernick) try to recharge their relationship by embarking on a series of ill-planned and awkward sexual adventures. The movie is a follow-up to Garrity and Chernick’s 2012 film MY AWKWARD SEXUAL ADVENTURE which also starred Hampshire. Chernick told Jenny Kermode of Eye For Film that the second script was not a sequel, but was set in the same world: “I polished up the script,” he explained, “and Sean and I dug back in and then suddenly, we had this other idea. We’d lived ten years. Our kids have grown up, and we’ve been we’ve both been with our wives for a long time, and suddenly, we had new stories to tell we had new ideas to explore.” THE END OF SEX can be streamed on Paramount+.

Tim Rozon (Doc Holliday in 49 episodes) will be former P.I Jack Marlin in PURGATORY JACK, a neo-noir mystery thriller set in a town called Purgatory (not the one in the Ghost River Triangle). Jack, who was murdered in cold blood and doesn’t know by whom, decides to help Viv Vacious (Alexandra Beaton) locate her mother who killed herself twenty years previously. Chantel Riley (Big Nose Kate in 9 episodes) stars as Magdalene in Mostafa Keshvari‘s poignant drama COLORBLIND. Both Magdalene and her son Monet (Trae Maridadi) cannot see colours. When their (very) racist landlord is forced to babysit Monet, he finds the child’s black-and-white perspective enlightening. The film makes an effort to accurately convey how and what colour blind people actually see. Keshvari told David Emmanuel Noel of Occhimag: “Colorblind was the first film to be developed by color scientists to accurately display racism and symbolically address racism. I wrote the script after watching George Floydโs incident and couldnโt stop writing as the need for justice was fueling my pen.” COLORBLIND can be streamed on TUBI.

Katherine Barrell (Nicole Haught in 45 episodes) is Shay Robson in MAKING SCENTS OF LOVE. Shay is a perfume chemist. She accidentally spills a phial of her latest scent on charming stranger who happens to be the nephew of a famed fashion icon and he promptly falls madly in love with her. The relationship is doomed to failure unless Shay, who is short on self-confidence, can prove that the perfume is not responsible. Kiana Madeira (Poppy in “Whiskey Lullaby“) stars as Mixed Martial Arts trainer Sienna Lane in Castille Landon‘s film adaptation of Claudia Tan‘s 2019 romance novel PERFECT ADDICTION. As the story begins (in the book) Sienna finds her MMA champion boyfriend Jax (Matthew Noszka) in bed with her sister. Vowing revenge, Sienna sets out to convince Kayden (Ross Butler), who is Jax’s main rival in the ring, to train with her.
Madeira described her own training regimen for the role to Jaclyn Roth of Grazia. “I was learning to fight and also working out with my trainer, so it felt like a very authentic experience. I would train six times a week, one hour each day of fight training and then go into lifting weights…When I got to Poland, we continued our fight training for two weeks. We were training six hours a day with our stunt doubles and our stunt coordinator.” (PERFECT ADDICTION was filmed in Krakow. Madeira’s stunt double was Yessenia Cossio.) Michael Eklund in Dallas Jackson‘s 2020 action drama WELCOME TO SUDDEN DEATH
Michael Eklund (Bobo del Rey in 19 episodes) will be Angel Flores in THE SILENT HOUR, a crime thriller written by Dan Hall. The film will star Joel Kinnaman as a hearing impaired Boston detective who, along with his partner (Mark Strong), work to protect a deaf murder witness from a ruthless group of corrupt cops. Filming began in Malta last February, then shifted to Ontario. THE SILENT HOUR can be streamed on HULU.
Eklund is also Kenny Glass in ANTLERS, a film based on Nick Antosca’s short story “The Quiet Boy“. Kenny runs a meth lab with Frank Weaver (Scott Haze) in Crispus Falls, Oregon, and at the start of the tale Frank and Kenny are attacked in their mine shaft laboratory by an unidentified creature. Meanwhile, local schoolteacher Julia Meadows discovers that one of her students is drawing demons in his notebook. Directed by Scott Cooper, ANTLERS can be purchased in 4K UHD from Amazon Prime Video, and is available on Blu-ray and DVD.
