Angus (Ryan Adams) discovers that the crystalline substance that dissolved Brice’s glove in Episode Two is something odd. “Whatever hit us is made of a completely unknown element,” he explains. “This is a basic element. Think high school chemistry. The periodic table. Except this element is not on the periodic table. It’s made of something that hasn’t been discovered on Earth, which means it probably doesn’t exist on Earth. That means it’s found somewhere else.” There are not many ways to fit a new stable element into the periodic table.
